HERNIATED DISC – CAUSE AND REMEDY
Herniated disc is the combination of low back pain, leg pain or weakness in the muscles. These are the problems that are diagnosed if herniated disc issue is raised. It is informally named as slipped disc and it affects the spine. This condition is normally stated as the bulging out of the posterior region. In general there is a cushion disc that exists between the vertebrae and the spine. This cushion is found to lose its elasticity property and thus becomes injured. Because of the loss of elasticity the spinal disc slips out from its normal position and bulges out. This is the reason for terming it as herniated disc or slipped disc. When this occur the spinal nerve and spinal cord is pinched.
The symptoms shown by the herniated disc cannot be found immediately because the herniated disc may cause pain in some other region belonging to same nerve root. Some may suffer from thigh and knee pain and herniated disc may be cause for it. There are also possibilities of formation of herniated disc without showing any symptoms or pains. The nature of work of the individual may also be the cause of herniated disc. This is because at present situation people work by sitting constantly without any movement. In case of lifting objects of waists rather than legs also causes trouble.
The treatment for herniated disc is of three methods. For mild cases the physicians generally prescribes medicines and rest for a period of time to recover. For severe cases of herniated disc either endoscopic surgery or neurological treatment is prescribed. There are also non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and acetaminophen which is the medicine for curing herniated disc. For severe notifications medicines like gabapentin, pregabalin, duloxetine and tramadol are prescribed which are approved by the FDA. Also medicines for muscle relaxations are prescribed for pain recovery. Ginger and licorice are the natural anti-inflammatory herbs that can be used for the pain relief. In case of surgery minimal invasive surgery can be followed named as endoscopic discectomy and decompression surgery for more severe cases.
