Transporting Acai Pulp
Jun 4th, 2010
The acai plant is one of the most nutritious fruits on the planet. Because of its fragility, however, acai pulp is one of the few ways to package it so that it reaches the U.S. with all its nutrients intact. Another way that a few companies have developed to transport the fruit is by freeze drying it.
Beware of some of the dilution that takes place in the industry. Try to ensure you’re getting your money’s worth, try to find products that are not diluted with other less expensive juiced. Also, when possible, try to find products that use natural, organic forms of acai that have grown without the use of pesticides an herbicides.
Due to the high cost of obtaining and processing acai, some companies in order to save costs, include part of the seed in the powders and capsules that they put on the market. In essence, this dilutes the end product. Since the seed itself contains only a little of the nutrients, products made with seed are overpriced and worthless.
