Herbal Treatment for Depression and Anxiety
Jun 5th, 2010
If you have an unhealthy lifestyle, odds are that you are going to feel anxious-whether or not you have an anxiety disorder. If you do feel this way, seeking the help of a doctor can help you immensely. When it comes to treatment, nearly all doctors will prescribe one or more forms of pharmaceuticals to treat your symptoms.
Some people, however, looking for treatment for depression and anxiety symptoms are tempted to try herbal supplements such as St. Johns wort.
A government funded study from 2002 showed that St. John’s wort extract was ineffective in the treatment of depression and anxiety. Always consult with your doctor before taking herbal supplements for your illnesses. Most herbal supplements on the market are not regulated by any government agency and many of their health claims cannot be verified.
