I needed to get rid of about 50 pounds, stated the partner, to me. It was time to get my act in gear and get with some sort of fitness system beyond just the pumping iron . Iron had been my thing and while I was big my endurance was poor, at least my staying power for anything other than pushing iron around. I additionally had some additional extra padding and a bit of a belly.

While I was developing much more muscle by hitting the weights very hard, I was not losing that much fat and soon grew to become frustrated with the fat loss part of things. I could not figure out why I was not becoming ripped and I even was feeling bad physically. Well, psychologically. Especially when my girlfriend might kick my butt running.

I started to research the subject (of getting ripped.) I couldn’t simply consider her advice, you realize, and soon found that cardio exercise seriously is vital to long lasting fat loss. I started working out with a stationary bike and a treadmill, and the fat started to come off more quickly than ever. Working some core fitness workouts into the plan was a big help, too.

Performing the cardio was quite hard for me at first. I had practically no stamina (which resulted in a certain amount of teasing) and my lower limbs were killing me afterward. As I kept working at it, however, I really started to get the idea of it. The pain proceeded to go away, and I seriously started to take pleasure in how I felt when I was finished.

A different thing which I started to notice when I would do aerobic exercise is that my stomach, in particular, was seriously flattening out. My clothes began to fit far better, and I had much more power through the day. I began to be able to keep up with her on some of the runs and I appreciated the way she “admired” the new me.

I am not certain if it was a byproduct of the cardiovascular and heart exercise, but I also ceased getting ill as frequently as I did before. I would go significantly longer than before with out getting so much as a cold, and I had learned that aerobics helps increase your body temperature and kills off infections that might be building. More likely it’s just that almost everything (such as my immune system) was getting in far better shape, not just my legs.

When I really started to lose weight by leaps and bounds was when I combined aerobic exercise with a good fat burning program and started eating a much better choice of food. I recall I lost 50 lbs in 3 months. At that point, I had attained my fat loss target and was in far better form than I had ever been in my life. I still lifted weights and ate properly, but I realize that it is the cardio routines and the heart routines that seriously pushed me over the top. Plus I love the reality that my abs are flat and rock hard.

To this day, I continue to incorporate aerobic exercise into my workout routine, and with wonderful results. Though reducing weight is no longer a objective of mine, it certainly aids in other areas, like cardiovascular health. I had constantly been reluctant to start doing aerobics, but as soon as I finally gave in and started to use it as an aspect of my workout routine, I haven’t looked back.

Here we go again! The FAT season is almost upon us. Why is it that we consider Christmas a great time to pig out, and January the first the perfect time to go on that much needed diet where we get to promise ourselves, yet again, that this year, this New Year, is the one where we really work at improving our health and wellbeing. Almost 90% of Americans make New Year’s resolutions. Two of the most popular ones concern health and fitness. These two resolutions are usually included in the top five resolutions of the year. It’s no surprise with more than 63% of us being overweight or obese. The resolve to give time to fitness and battling the bulge have been constant in the list. These resolutions have been in the top ten, probably since the 80’s.

To start your new year right, plan your grocery shopping. Make a list of healthy foods that you’d like to include in your meals. Get everything at once. Stock up on fruits, veggies and nuts. Eat these for snacks. Having low calorie snacks at home prevents you from eating what is available. Plus, fruits, veggies and nuts are good for you. You can bring these low calorie foods to the office, too. Keep your metabolism running by eating 4 to 6 small meals a day. A food journal may be helpful. Keeping a record of what you’re eating makes you more conscious of each entry’s calorie content. It will also make you more aware of your eating patterns.

One of the most common excuses for not working out is lack of time. In fact, most people abandon their new year’s resolution because of it. Resolve to remedy this by taking a hard look at your schedule at the beginning of the year. Find 3 to 5 days where you can insert your exercise schedule. Find exercise activities that suit your work and lifestyle. Instead of going to a regular gym class, take a 30 minute walk before work. If you spend most of your time at home, invest in some home gym equipment. If you really can’t spare more than 2 or 3 days, that’s fine. That’s better than no exercise at all. Starting an exercise regimen is a lot harder than maintaining it. Once you get used to getting your daily dose of exercise, it gets easier. If your weekends are free, take advantage of it. Make sure to get some exercise on those days. That leaves you with only 3 days of exercise during workdays.

Achieving fitness and health takes time, so incorporate changes gradually. Decrease your number of calories sensibly. Start by shaving 100 calories a day or strive for a calorie deficit by adding incidental exercises to your daily activity. Eating too little may make you weak and less able to follow through on your diet and fitness resolutions. When you’re hungry, your willpower decreases. There are reasons why people go on a binge. One of which is when you deprive yourself too much.

According to estimates, only 50% to 55% will be successful in their new year’s resolutions. There are more tips that you can use to aid you in your fitness plan. Choosing the right foods, exercising and making changes gradually will help you keep your health resolutions.

As we get older it gets harder and harder to lose weight, or even to maintain our current weight. This is usually a sign that we need to increase our metabolism. The food that we eat converts into energy, and the word ‘metabolism’ refers to the process that the body uses to distribute the nutrients from the food.

What is our metabolism? Our basal metabolism keeps us alive and provides basic energy for life support, which requires 60-65% of the calories eaten daily. An additional 25% of calories are used during physical activity and another 10% are spent processing the food we eat.

Everyone’s rate of and ability to increase metabolism is different and is affected by many variables including general health, chronic health conditions, lack of physical activity, and age. We’ve all seen those people who can eat anything they want and never seem to gain an ounce, regardless of their level of physical activity; this is a prime example of a person with a relatively high metabolic rate.

One way to increase your metabolism is to exercise daily for at least 30 minutes, but it’s been found that a 45-minute cardio workout is more effective for losing weight. If it is difficult to get to the gym everyday, consider investing in an indoor cycling bike, or if your apartment is small, perhaps a foldup treadmill would be a good option for you. If nothing else, make sure you get out and walk for at least 30 minutes a day.

In training, as in anything else, people who settle into a routine, do lose their spontaneity, their sense of engagement, and finally their involvement.

Not only does monotony make you lose involvement at the psychological level, it even makes your body lose involvement on the physical level. Muscles, when they are made to do the same thing over and over again, are just dulled and numbed.

Your muscles burn the most calories when they’re perked up and they feel like they are ready for anything. That comes from expressing yourself – not from a “program”.

Losing The Love Handles

When I was in my 20’s I always found it easy to lose weight by cutting back on the carb heavy food and doing a bit more aerobic exercise. Over time though, I’m not sure if it’s metabolism or my tendency to eat larger meals, but I had stubborn love handles I just couldn’t shift. At first I thought the solution would be as simple as just stepping up my aerobic routine but after reading through the diet solution reviews it soon became clear that in order to burn body fat as efficiently as possible I was going to have to follow a proven guide and get the diet side of things right as well. Over the past several years it’s become apparent to me that I have to change the way I eat. My best friend, at age twenty eight, died of a heart attack.
