Acne Skin Care

Jan 28th, 2010 by tobyfox

We all want to look our best. The appearance of acne can be mentally and physically painful, but there are solutions. An entire industry of science, research, and pharmaceuticals continues to grow in response to the needs of acne sufferers.

One solution is preventative. Drug store shelves are full of skin toners and cleansers specially formulated to help prevent acne. They clean out the pores and help stop sebum or oil which clogs up the pores. When the pores become clogged with this oil, bacteria multiplies. These skin care products are designed to prevent this from happening.

Then there are exfoliation products formulated to remove dead skin cells and other atmospheric pollutants, reducing the chance of bacterial growth. There are several non-prescription products containing benzol peroxide and salicylic acid, both of which are the enemies of bacteria and acne. Creams containing alpha hydroxy acid may work better, depending on type skin.

None of the above worked for me (32 years ago), so I consulted a dermatologist. He prescribed a multitude of anti biotics and topical solutions. He surgically removed some of the obstructions. I remained under his care for almost five years. I finally asked him if my diet had anything to do with my stubborn condition. He confessed that if I “discovered” that a specific food caused more skin eruption, then I should “stop eating it.”

So, five years later, and thousands of dollars spent on drugs and doctor bills, I struck out on my own. I studied natural diets, fasting, and colon care. I found relief and eventually was free. The cause was my own diet, high in sugars and starches. I could eat a bag of white powder doughnuts in a day, a pack of cookies in a weekend, add to that, a gallon and a half of milk. This is only a sneak peak of my horrible diet, but you’ve got the idea.

In hindsight, I got what I deserved. I created the conditions which lead to a severe case of cystic acne. I share this experience on Acne Treatment Review in hopes of helping younger generations to avoid the mistakes I made and change their lives for the better. See the article: “Acne and Treatment…”
