Acne is one of the major skin troubles that are highly ubiquitous among the adolescents. They can develop anywhere in the body when there are pores in the skin are clogged. Further there is a formation of bacteria over the area thus causing acne in the form of black or whiteheads, lumps and cysts. There are different types of acne and can be classified according to the part of the body where it occurs.

Causes of acne

There are a number of factors that cause acne and the most common reason is the over activity of the oil glands or the sebaceous glands present in the skin. Acne also occurs when there is a blockage in pores of the skin and the inability of the skin to breathe. There can be hormonal defects that can cause acne too. Diet plays an important role in the occurrence of pimples and acne and when there is too much consumption of oily food, it is likely that there is a provocation of acne. Stress and deficiency are also among the causes of acne.

Remedies for acne

Here are a few skin care tips that can help in getting rid of acne and bringing about a bright, glowing and healthy skin.

  • One of the best natural treatments for skin with acne is the usage of aloe vera. You can either use it directly by applying the gel or by using the products that contain aloe vera. Apart form healing the acne it also nourishes the skin.
  • Apply a paste of honey and cinnamon during the night and rinse it off in the morning.
  • Avoid eating oily food and also the usage of products that are high in chemical contents.
  • As the tea tree oil is effective in fighting the bacteria, it can be applied on the skin for getting rid of the acne.
  • Apply a mixture of puree of tomato, honey and rose water on the affected areas half an hour before bathing and then wash off.
  • Make a paste of a few tender neem leaves and mix with turmeric powder and apply on the acne. This is one of the skin care tips that are found to be effective since the olden days.
  • Mix sandalwood powder with milk and turmeric powder and apply it on the areas that are affected with acne and watch the acne disappear within a few weeks.
  • Add lots of fresh fruits and vegetables to your diet and drink lots of water. This helps in flushing the toxins out of the body, thus curing the acne and pimples. Make sure you drink atleast six to eight glasses of water everyday.
  • Avoid using commercial and homemade exfoliators while your skin is affected with acne. This increases the acne and spreads to the other areas.
